NMU Audits are not a substitute to Road Safety Audit. They are a design requirement which has been adopted in Qatar and are part of the design process for of new Expressways.
They focus on the provision for all non-motorised road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and those riding animals. An audit will take into consideration information contained with the Pedestrian Movement Study as well as existing and future generators such as residential development, logistics hubs, shopping malls, industrial areas and schools.
The first stage is the Context Report, which identifies and makes clear opportunities and objectives in which NMU are considered with suitable design options.
From this point forward and during the preliminary and detailed design stages the objectives described within the Context Report are revisited ensuring they have been addressed appropriately, and where necessary further or revised design proposals can be recommended were necessary.
